What's going on Oppo? So, I went and looked at that '92 Corvette this evening. What an utter disappointment that was. The $6,500 price definitely reflected upon the car correctly. All of the weatherstripping was rotted out, so water leaked all over the interior, therefore trashing it quite badly. Not to mention, the rear of the car looked like it had some shady work done to it. Overall, it was pretty big disappointment. I'm a little pissed about how perfect the car was described to me. They must have thought that they could just pawn it off on me. Yet, I guess that's why the price was so cheap compared to others, so I shouldn't have expected much. Overall verdict? There's no way I would have ever traded my car for that thing. I wanted it to be great, but that wasn't the case. Which kinda sucks. That being said, I'll be keeping my beloved '86. :)
TL;DR: I looked at the '92 'Vette. Wasn't nearly as good as expected. Keeping the '86.

That sucks. But I'm glad that it's flaws were obvious and you didn't part with the '86 for an inferior car...that would have really sucked.

wow. the way you described it made it sound like a cherry. sucks.

That's too bad.

glad it all worked out!

Sorry to hear that but I'm glad to hear you will still be tuned port injected rage and not optispark induced rage! Your '86 is way cooler anyways, zany 90s color scheme or not.
(Yes, I know, optispark not a huge issue. 'Twas a joke)

GOOD! Fate made your hard decision for you. On another note, is your 86 manual?
![]() 10/09/2014 at 21:14 |
|
Yeah. I always hate seeing 'Vettes in that condition. Like you said, though, I'm glad I wasn't suckered into the deal.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 21:16 |

Yeah :( That's how the guy described the car to me. Like I said, I'm a little pissed that he lied to me that much. Wasting my time and his.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 21:21 |

True that. Your '86 is too damn clean though. Just a pretty, pretty car.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 21:22 |

Glad you're keeping your beloved. :)
Tell me, is that the car in the picture?
![]() 10/09/2014 at 21:24 |

Yeah. I really wanted for it to be nice. Then again, I'm also glad to be keeping the '86.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 21:25 |

Yep. Like I said, I was hoping it would be nicer. But I'm very thankful to be keeping the '86. Kinda bittersweet.

Personally the 86 is the better body anyway. I like the angular body.

Someone mentioned the name last night too. I never thought about it :D Yeah. I really wanted the '92 to be mint, but, looking back on it, I would have deeply regretted selling the '86.

Yeah, I gotta admit, I'm pretty glad to. I would have regretted selling it.
The car in the picture is my beloved Christine, if that's what you are asking. This picture was taken when I was in the Bloomington Gold Corvettes Roadtour (basically a parade with thousands of 'Vettes).

Yeah, it is kinda convinient I guess :D Nope, its an auto. Had an opportunity to buy a 4+3 '84 Corvette, but it was trashed. I'm much happier with this.

My C4 is my first car, too, so I understand why it means a lot. No question that an LT1 is a faster car, but keep in mind that an '86 Z51 has as much torque, more HP potential, and better handling! It's really hard to say how I'd feel if some guy offered me $7000 cash for my car, but it's become a major part of my life for sure.

Thank you :) Glad to hear people like it. I'm extremely happy with it.

I would completely agree with that. They look a lot more crisp than the later C4s, for sure.

Oh yeah and the interior layout is better.

Bloomington, Indiana? I think that's Indiana.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 21:52 |

Yeah, for sure. When I get the cash, I might beef up the L98 a bit more, but its quick enough for now. And, yeah, the handling is great. The ride sucks, as I'm sure you can attest to. But the handling is phenomenal. Yeah, I would agree with you. I'd have a really rough time selling it.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 21:56 |

Hells yeah. I love the look on my friends' faces when the digital dash clicks on. Never gets old. And the rest of the layout is nice too. The '90 to '96 interior layouts seemed too crowded on the drivers side.

Bloomington, Illinois. Had to drive through Indiana to get there, though. My god, the traffic is awful in Indiana.

I don't remember, last time I was there was when I was like 2. :P

So many dream cars in one pic!
![]() 10/09/2014 at 22:13 |

Unless its for that show again, I don't really want to go back to Indiana. Sitting in stop and go traffic in a hot Corvette isn't really my idea of fun :D
![]() 10/09/2014 at 22:16 |

Oh, for sure. If you're a 'Vette fan, I highly recommend this show. It was AMAZING. I have over 300 pictures from it, just because there was so many awesome things :D

Not even with a removable top. :P

Pushrod V8s, rwd, 'merica I'm big time vette fan and so is my dad. Was this at corvettes at Carlisle?
![]() 10/09/2014 at 22:31 |

Hell yeah! And no, this was at Bloomington Gold Corvettes USA in Bloomington, Illinois. I would love to go to Corvettes at Carlisle sometime, though.

I made the mistake of not removing the roof on the way back, since I thought it was going to rain :/ The drive down was fantastic, though. The last leg of the journey is 100+ miles on a desolate highway. Seriously, there was nothing but corn fields and the road ahead. It was beautiful.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 22:46 |
|
So it wasn't that bad. :)
![]() 10/09/2014 at 22:51 |

From somebody with experience: no more crowded than the early interior. For the '90-'93, it actually makes you feel cozier and like you are more one with the car because of that sweep on the right-hand side of the center stack.
But there is still no substitute for that digital dash. None.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 22:52 |
|
Has more torque, but it's actually easier to get more HP out of an LT1 than it is an L98. If you're going to essentially rebuild the engine to make bonkers HP, then it doesn't matter which one you go with.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 22:55 |
|
Nah, it really wasn't. It was just all the stop and go traffic in Indiana that killed me.
![]() 10/09/2014 at 23:01 |
|
It always just looked a little more crowded to me. I believe you, though. Its not that I don't like it, because, trust me, I still do. I would love to drive one sometime, because it does look like it would be a nice drivers position. I would have driven that '92, but I didn't really want to waste of his time.
Nope, that there is not. It is amazing.

Where are you again? You're not in the DC Metro area like JayZAyEighty and myself, are you?
![]() 10/09/2014 at 23:16 |

Nope, I'm up in SE Michigan. I'm about an hour or so north of Detroit.

Foop.
Was about to say, if you're around here we could probably schedule a mini Corvette meet and I'd let you take mine around the block.

That's true, I'm just saying modifiability per dollar the 1st gen SBC comes out on top. Either way, LS swap will work just fine.

Dang. That would have been cool. Thanks for the offer, though :)
